New York, NY — On December 8, 2024, a woman known as Jane Doe filed a detailed complaint in the Southern District of New York alleging that Combs and none other than Shawn “Jay Z” Carter drugged and raped her at an afterparty following the 2000 MTV Video Music Awards. She was only 13 years old at the time.
According to the lawsuit, Jane Doe had tried to attend the VMAs without a ticket and lingered near Radio City Music Hall. A limousine driver claiming to work for Combs allegedly told her that she “fit what Diddy was looking for,” and later picked her up and brought her to an afterparty at a mansion somewhere in New York. She was handed a drink that she now believes was laced with GHB. Feeling lightheaded and disoriented, she wandered into a bedroom to lie down. That’s when, she says, Combs entered with Jay Z and a well-known female celebrity. What followed, according to the complaint, was a brutal and humiliating assault by two of the most powerful men in music, while the third person watched silently.
Jane Doe alleges that Jay Z raped her first while she was being held down, followed by Combs, who then attempted to force her into oral sex. She resisted, punched Combs in the neck, grabbed her clothes, and fled the property unnoticed by the many guests still partying as if nothing had happened.
She eventually found a gas station, called her father, and was picked up before sunrise. Since that night, the complaint states, she has lived with trauma that includes PTSD, depression, and a stress-induced seizure disorder. The suit seeks both compensatory and punitive damages, and Jane Doe is requesting a jury trial.
But this isn’t an isolated case. The lawsuit comes after a long list of civil complaints and criminal investigations that have pulled back the velvet curtain on Combs’ alleged double life. From accusations of sex trafficking and drugging to unlawful surveillance and coercion, the allegations keep stacking higher than his chart-topping hits. The federal indictment in September 2024 accusing Combs of racketeering, trafficking, and running what prosecutors call a “criminal enterprise” only added fuel to the fire. Now, Jane Doe’s account adds a disturbing layer involving a minor and implicates one of hip-hop’s most celebrated icons, Jay Z, in what she calls a coordinated act of violence.
The complaint also outlines how Combs allegedly used his network of businesses—including Bad Boy Entertainment, Combs Global, and Daddy’s House Recording Studio—not just to promote music and vodka, but to orchestrate the abuse and silence the victims. The lawsuit alleges these corporate structures were tools for enabling and concealing systemic sexual violence, manipulation, and intimidation, all while Combs presented himself to the world as a media mogul.
