Yesterday morning the Haitian Music Industry woke up buzzing when Kompa Magazine released a message he received from CaRiMi’s lead singer, Mickael Guirand announcing his temporary departure from the band.

"Effective immediately…. For personal reasons i’m gonna step away from the stage as carimi main singer... This is not really something i wish to go into details with the fans and the media right now, it's imperative that I get some time off now… Management is aware and will probably follow w a statement that
clarifies the direction of the band moving forward."

The message was so unexpected, a lot of people were in denial while others wasted no time trying to figure out what exactly is going on in his personal life or transpired within the band to make him want to a take a break.

"This is not really something i wish to go into details with the fans and the media right now, it's imperative that I get some time off now…"

It was this part that of the statement that raised everyone’s antennas and people started investigating on what really transpired within the band to provoke such note.

Many scenarios came up.

1. He was sick because his weight is taking a toll on his overall health and he needed to stop touring to allow him more time to focus on his health.
2. Second scenario if he’s been having personal issues with his significant other due to his crazy schedule preventing him from being able to spend time with family.
3. He’s been having problems with a band mate.

Scenario 1. Is very logical because we’ve watch Mickael lose a lot of weight in the past. He was so dedicated and spent a lot of time at the gym and maintained the weight loss for a long time then something happened; Mickael started gaining the weight back and he even surpassed his previous weight. Taking a break would definitely benefit him and his business.

"Our loyal fans might be disappointed but this was not an easy decision specially when I have been reliable for the pass 14 years. I hope you guys understand the sacrifice that comes w being a musician specially in the haitian music industry." 

Scenario 2. It’s undeniable the music industry breaks up a lot of relationships. If it’s not for being on the road for long periods of time, it’s the amount of women that are readily available to these musicians that may cause trust issues within the relationship. Even if the musician is not doing anything wrong but the distance may lead to the wife feeling the loneliness and even the kids may be affected as well if the musician don’t know when to take a break and give his family his undivided attention. Mickael clearly stated in his statement that he’s never taken a break from the band. That may sound like good work and business ethics but it’s terrible when you have a family that loves you and needs your time. Although Mickael never discussed his personal life publicly it’s been heavily reported and rumored he was going through a divorce and it might actually be final at this point.

Senerio number 3. Allegedly he’s been having problems with band mate Carlo and to prevent any further incidents he’s taking time off to cool down. This is not the first time it’s been rumored Mickael and Carlo have had issues; back in November 2004, it was reported allegedly they had gotten into a physical confrontation and the band’s management quickly put out a statement that the rumors were false. Whichever Scenerio is accurate if any, we just hope that Mickael focus on the most important thing right now, his overall health. Nothing else matters if you don’t have your health and sanity. CaRiMi have a few obligations to fulfill and from the look of things Mika Ben is the runner up at the moment until the band figures out how to move forward from this.
