CRUZ- LA is a Haitian Compas direk band that is based in Brooklyn, New York. The group was created by longtime friends Josue Baptist and Serge Sainthilaire Jr. Josue thought of the idea of creating a group after seeing Serge, on a little Casio keyboard, playing the Alan Cave hit song “Se Pa Pou Dat”. Soon after, with the help of good friends Jamey Jasmin, Fintelow Sainthilaire, and Alfredo Dorcely, years of hard work, determination and dedication, CRUZ- LA was formed in 2009. Longtime friends Samuel Casseus and Pierre Richard Jean Claude soon became part of the group thus completing the band.

Style

Cruz La has thrilled audiences wherever they’ve performed. With their abundant energy, their crowd-pleasing talents, and proven ability to entertain audiences of all ages. They are fast becoming a force to be reckoned with in the Haitian Music Industry. CRUZ- LA uses the Nouvelle Generation of Compas direk which was created by bands, like Zekle, Zin, Phantom, Djakout, T-Vice, Carimi and infused it with a bit of their own style. The group’s performances have led them to become one of NYC’s most entertaining groups.

We, the dedicated members of CRUZ-LA band, entirely believe that through teamwork, discipline, and communication we will create a focused working environment. Within this atmosphere, we will improve our skill and confidence levels. By loving and believing in what we do, we will inspire each other and our audience to feel as passionately about Haitian music as we do. Our ultimate goal is to take Haitian music (Compas direk) to new levels, new audiences and to set a higher standard for future generations.
