K-Dilak is a Haitian rapper, singer, and singer-songwriter. He produces many different genres ranging from Konpa, Kizomba, reggae, reggaeton, and bachata. Born, Joubite Dessalines; K-Dilak was born on April 7, 1993 in Chalon, South of Miragoâne. During his adolescence, the Miragoannais seemed to have little interest in music. At 6, he went to Port-au-Prince to continue his classical studies. It was only when he decided to leave the south in 2009 that K-Dilak decided to devote himself to this form of artistic expression. It was there, in his small town, that he discovered a real passion for music. First attracted by freestyle in rap ( the fact of rapping on any instrument, first in improvisation), K-Dilak surrounded by friends, gradually turned towards music in 2008 and was then part of RAS, a hip-hop collective in his neighborhood.

In 2016, K Dilak left Chalon to settle permanently at Carrefour. A few months after having put down his suitcases there, he abandoned the RAS group to favor a solo career. The singer, originally from Chalon in Miragoâne, quickly realizes that he is able to use his voice and his writing talent to “make a career”. The same year, the man who indeed has a fairly high pitched voice, became popular with the hit “Pa gad ale m”, a song with reggae accents reminding that “ there is no such thing as a stupid job.”. He seeks to make known and to highlight the “astonishing” professions which are practiced in the world today and which reflect the needs of the society of the environment where they are exercised. With this song, K-dilak begins to make a name for himself among the initiated.

Eager for new songs (and new hits), K-dilak continues his musical ascent with a series of projects including “Papa ede m”, “Yap kenbe”, “Tou prè mwen”. Then, he offered himself some prestigious collaborations. We find him, among others, alongside Mikaben, on the reggae track “Yo ale” (2017), a song about the brain drain. K-Dilak is sounding the alarm on the immigration of young Haitian skilled workers, which is taking a heavy toll on a country with already scarce human capital. K Dilak also collaborates with singer Misty Jean on “Ban m verite” (2020) and Buteau Jean Garmel on the sound of “Yo pa kapab ankò” (2020). The two artists choose, through this title, to defend the rights of children in a wandering situation commonly called in Haitian jargon “Ti kokorat”, which translates to “street children” in French. The video hit the 3 million YouTube view mark in less than two months.

In touch with a variety of musical styles

Possessing an equally diverse musical palette, k-dilak without denying his roots, makes an afropop turn which is successful for him as evidenced by the success of his compositions “Fo pwomès” feat. Bedjine, “M pap padone w”, “Ou fè m” and “Ban m verite”. In August 2019, the child of Miragoâne thus breathed new life into his career by choosing Muller Desravines (Muller 509) and Jerry Mondésir , respectively manager and assistant manager, to represent him and manage his career in music.

Love and women as a source of inspiration

K-Dilak succeeds in conquering a good part of the fairer sex with songs each telling the story of a couple in everyday life. The love story between the women and the artist begins in 2018, with the release of the song ”M pap pran sa nan men w” tinged with reggaeton. Since then, the Miragoannais loves to approach all facets of romantic relationships. To better present such a fair vision of marital relations, K-Dilak enlists the services of Bedjine, her real name Marie Bedjine Love David, while offering him a beautiful platform in their duo. The two stars form the perfect alchemy in “Pouki n te marye”. This piece is even more successful upon its release and is also carried by its clip, which features the two performers sharing their lives without erotic desire. In just four weeks, the video has racked up a staggering 4 million views on YouTube. With this title, K-Dilak reaches an increasingly large audience and his hits are sung by all the young people of Haiti.

Grand winner of the year 2020

2020 remains a bright year for K-Dilak. The singer is crowned ” Male Artist of the Year ” by the MAGHAITI Media Group for his contribution to the evolution of his environment thanks to his passionate work. He was named “ Urban Music Singer of the Year” by Ticket Magazine. He is also elected ” Best Male Solo Artist ” by Ayiti Biyografi and ” Male Artist of the year ” by The Prestigious Haitian Music Awards (PHMA).
