Auguste Duverger, better known by his stage name “Pouchon”, was born on April 13, 1975 in Pétion-Ville, Haiti. Pouchon made his debut in church where he also learned to play instruments like guitar, trumpet and drums. After leaving the church; he collaborate with Nickenson Prud’homme and David Dupoux within the group “Toff”.

In 1997 he was called by the popular band at the time, Djakout Mizik to replace “Gracia Delva”. In 2010 he left Djakout Mizik after having a disagreement with the band’s management and, with his colleagues, he formed the musical group called Djakout # 1.

Between the intermediate parentage: Cubano, Zouzoul, Cajuste, Boulo, TiManno, Dadou etc. and the new wave with: J. Widmaier, Eric Charles, Patrick Andal, Garry Didier Perez among others. Who are the voices that dominate the radio waves and capture the imagination of this aspiring singer. Especially Didier Perez who will greatly influence him. Subsequently to his apprenticeship in hieratic music, he joined forces with two friends: Nikenson Prud’Homme (Djakout, Zenglen, Harmonik) and David Dupoux (Djakout, Konpa Kreyol, Krezi),

Then, together with his student itinerary, he continues to do the rounds of lousy groups. Including the “Fatal” from Cité Militaire, with which he begins to bring out his off-tempo , off-tempo sound.. In addition to a scenic exuberance that made him a good host. This will eventually attract the attention of musical promoters in the surrounding environment. Which will keep him in reserve with the prospect of placing him at the outpost of an established group. This will be materialized with the departure of Gracia Delva for the United States. By leaving a vacant place within the “Djakout Mizik”, in which Pouchon made a successful comeback. Because, having been preferred to a skinny guy still adorned with hair whose name is Michel Martelly. Freshly landed from his shameless travels in Florida where he was also rejected by the “Top Vice” of Miami.

However, Pouchon has in the meantime, contributed with his panache to rally this group. In addition to the prior presence of the excellent guitarist Claude Marcelin. Leaving this group out of the shadows, giving it a vocal identity, after the transit without leaving any traces, of Gracia Delva. In particular, through the LPs: ” Mòso lanmou ” and ” Setyèm syèl ” , including: rév mwen, kote w ye, my only madness, feeling konpa, dekole, sam fè w, naje pou sòti, divine creature, men moun yo, konpa US, bèl fan m etc. the second having been the real catalyst for their emergence. Through which Pouchon ultimately made an original brand. Becoming as a result, a pounding of the konpaheavy, with its thundering phrasing, which sometimes gives the impression of upsetting the octaves.

AS FOR POUCHON, HE IS THE “GREAT POWER”, ESTABLISHING HIMSELF AS THE ESSENTIAL STAR OF “DJAKOUT”

In this flight, it is the release of their consecutive lasers: ” La familia ” and ” Mannigeta ” ; having seen Pouchon and company reach their cruising speed. In the songs: refleksyon, passion fruit, yon ti konsèy, love you still, sa se Djakout, tandrès, biznis pam, guilty, sa w mete, love me girl, amou etènèl, abandone, that money, prekosyonetc. who have consolidated their dominance in the show business arena. In addition to the controversies that surround them; with groupies like Sweet Micky, Cliff Brandt, Sonson Lafamilia, Jovenel Moise and others. And who project to them an image of a group of delinquents; burning money from narcotics and kidnapping during their very performance. At this stage, he is cataloged as “Dyaz peyi a” by the courtiers. As for Pouchon, he is the “great power”; establishing itself as the essential star of “Djakout”. At the mercy of a timbre that has undergone a sensory mutation with conclusive subtleties.

It must be said that from the top of their pedestal, Pouchon and the “Djakout” began to lose control. Having had an active part in the ‘Grenn Nan Bouda’ movement; which installed them as the de facto set of GNBs. And which is reflected through the sequential works: ” Jistis’ ‘ and’ ‘Defi leve’ ‘, with: pwoblèm, kout lang, i am not a slave, kris la, foli lanmou, banm Djakout mwen, et si l’ we made love, we deserve itstate; grossly mediocre. In 2010, following disagreements with the administration managed by the ‘konpa factorie’ of the former mayor of Port-au-Prince Youry Chevry, all scandalized by the fact that his friend the incompetent Sweet Micky Martelly had thought of becoming president, he preferably joined the camp of Myrlande Manigat. In the fray, Pouchon & Co have decided to go it alone, by renaming the group “Djakout # 1”. And to complicate matters, the wise man of the ensemble, the seasoned musician and guitarist, arranger and maestro Thony Jean Baptiste, also decides to leave.

SURPRISINGLY, IT IS POUCHON WHO ENDED UP HAVING THE UPPER HAND IN THIS DUEL OF THE ENEMY BROTHERS.

In addition, Auguste Duverger has to face the vagaries of competition with the integration of singers Yves Valbrun alias Steven Khe and Pedro Michel who came to overshadow him in the albums: ‘Pwofite’ and ‘Lòd nan dezòd’ , very below their productivity. In addition to competition from Shabba who also proclaimed himself the official vocalist. Which has felt wings, since his boyfriend Micky was elected leader of banditry, at the head of a fictitious nation. With the loss of his influence and a crumbling voice, Auguste Duverger knows the bottom of the wave. It took the last cd: ” Nou pap dòmi deyò ”for Pouchon to catch his breath; and the “Djakout # 1” to find its allure in formal arrangements, a diversified repertoire; and the swaying pieces which he confidently delivered.

While the other singers contributed their share on moderate chords; like salè mizerab, the laser tube which is a real plea in the struggle of Haitian workers and everywhere. Performances that forced Pouchon to share the limelight with these stamps, which are popular with the audience of the moment. And who put him a little in tune in his showdown with Shabba who was the most prolific composer of the group. But, surprisingly, it was Pouchon who ended up having the upper hand in this duel between the enemy brothers. Since it was Shabba who had to be ousted; taking care to bring with him one of the prominent singers Steven Khe. In the formation of his group “Ekip” which became the bedside ensemble of Jomo and Micky. As for Pouchon, he hopes to restore his image from the next production of “Djakout # 1”. This will allow him to regain his enthusiasm and his splendor of “great vocal power”.
