Pierre Charles, Jean Claude

ARTIST/BAND /GROUP INFORMATION

Discovered during a competition of the French Institute in Haiti at the time, according to a text by his cousin Jean-Marie Julien. He started singing in the Yé-yé group, les Mordus. He was surrounded by talented musicians, such as Gary Jean-Jacques, Rosemond Ricot, Franz Minuty, Serge Lopez, Michel Moise, Boulo Valcourt, Tite Pascal, Carlo Mitton, Reynold Henrys, Dany Henrys, Gaguy Dépestre, among others. With his warm voice, he knew how to charm the spectators, during the festivals of Sunday morning in Port-au-Prince during the years 1963 to 1966. He interpreted successes of Charles Aznavour, Brook Benton, Elvis Presley, Les Beatles, Johnny Halliday, etc. The good times !

Peddy sang alongside famous singers like Ansy Dérose, Fritz Joassin, Jacky Duroseau before joining Serge Rosenthal’s group, Les Shleu Shleu. It is in the latter that he was able to reach the top by singing the direct Compass, next to Hans Chérubin nicknamed Big Baby.

We remember some successful songs like “Minuit” already created with Les Mordus, “La Colline”, “Guess”, “4 Saisons”, “Maille”, “Dada’s 4-3”, among others. It must be said that he was well surrounded by people like Tony Moise, Serge Rosenthal, Milo Toussaint, Edward Richard, Léon Millien, Michel Moise, Hans Chérubin, Clovis St-Louis, Smith Jean-Baptiste, Francky Jean-Baptiste, not to quote only those.

We offer our condolences to his family and to his brother musicians. Singer Peddy’s funeral will be announced at a later date.
