At every stage in his growth, those most qualified to judge Carlo have given passing notice to his blazing percussions technique, his passion for music. But they usually save their highest accolades for his live performances, sophistication style, which they find even more remarkable than his skill in studio. With over a decade of performing as a young professional, Carlo has found ways to nourish his aptitudes and keep his passion alive throughout a long, demanding, and a great deal of attention from the public and Haitian music connoisseurs, and even the media. Though he showed promise quite early, Carlo instinctively avoided the temptation to become a drummer, but an accomplished percussionist. Graduated from Florida Metropolitan University, he has a degree in Computer Information Sciences, and a minor in Business Administration. Carlo love and listened Haitian konpa, jazz, Salsa, Blues, and all others just to enrich his knowledge and his skills in music. He developed improvisational skill in parallel with his college major. In a recent chapter of his young and promising career, Carlo has been playing for almost every local band in Florida as a guest musician including NuLook, Zenglen, Magnum Band. His ongoing collaboration with 509, which he is a founding member, has produced great performances on tour and in the studio, and four successful albums with the band.
You’ll hear him described as the happiest person you have ever met. This may be because he lives what he loves. He lives his percussions. This guy can somehow balance an environmental career, college, a social life, and a pretty darn great domestic life while playing at least three times a week. Musicians often speak of Carlo’s incredible sense of timing which makes it easy to play a tight show without any rehearsals. He instinctively knows when to come in and when to lay back. His talent is truly immeasurable when mixed with his love of music.
You’ll understand why so many people call him “Carlo Cheveux”; he just wants to keep his Afro blowing….that makes him look the star he wants to be. On stage, he has a visible energy around him that shouts good karma that one cannot miss.
Carlo now looks at his future from the front rank of performers of his generation, and buoyant spirit who delights and inspires musicians and fans alike.
