OpaMusic.com reached out to Haitian musician Carlo Vieux for an exclusive conversation about his long-awaited return to the studio and the release of his new single “Retounen,” which dropped on October 22, 2025, under Power Surge Music Group. For fans who have followed Carlo’s journey from the legendary band CaRiMi to his solo rebirth, this new release feels like both a homecoming and a declaration.

Born on September 13, Carlo Vieux has been part of Haitian music history for more than two decades. From his early start with the group Tic Tac, to his time with K-Dans, and then to the creation of CaRiMi alongside Richard Cavé and Mickael Guirand, Carlo helped redefine modern compas. His melodies and lyrical depth made him a household name. But after CaRiMi’s breakup in 2016, he disappeared quietly from the spotlight.

Now, Carlo is finally ready to tell his story in his own voice.

The song “Retounen” is clearly metaphorically speaking of his exit from CaRiMi. His silence was loud, but the public was louder. “There were things said about me, accusations of things I didn’t even know of. But I’m glad to be back. Like the old saying goes, le de zye wè, manti pa bay.”

The single “Retounen” is the first glimpse of his upcoming self-titled album, which Carlo says took nine months to complete. Safely to say, a full-term baby. Originally, the project was meant to include 18 songs, but he decided to narrow it down to 13 tracks. “I know how people consume music now,” he explained. “I wanted to make something full but digestible. Each song is long enough for real music lovers to enjoy but not exaggerated for radio.”

As for the production, the album features a talented lineup of collaborators including Paska Music, Serge Turnier (Power Surge), Julby Boutin (BBO), Jean Richard Bien-Aimé (Maestro Ricky), and was mixed and mastered by Cedrick Louis. The combination of these names ensures a polished sound that bridges classic compas emotion with modern sonic finesse.

When asked about his hiatus from the Haitian music scene, Carlo was candid. “A lot of it had to do with being a father. My son is very passionate about soccer, and I wanted to be there for him. Seeing where he is now, I know I made the right decision. He’s been accepted to five of the eight Ivy League schools in the country. I’m a proud father before anything else.”

Carlo also addressed the CaRiMi reunion concert, which thrilled fans worldwide. “It was a great experience, and I enjoyed every minute of it. Some people assumed I was behind Mickael’s departure, which couldn’t be further from the truth. At that time, everyone was going through their own situation and needed a break, including me. Since then, I’ve collaborated with the guys on different projects. If I had any issues, I wouldn’t have been there when I was needed.”

With his new music on the way, fans are already asking if they’ll see Carlo Vieux perform more often. “Yes,” he said with a smile. “You’ll see me on stage, but this time I’m going to be very strategic about it.”

“Retounen” feels both symbolic and personal. For an artist who has seen the highs of international fame, the weight of public scrutiny, and the grounding reality of fatherhood, this return marks a new era—one of maturity, clarity, and purpose.

OpaMusic.com will follow up with Carlo Vieux after the full album release next month. In the meantime, listeners are encouraged to support the artist by streaming “Retounen” on all major platforms. Carlo Vieux’s voice has returned, and so has his message: growth, grace, and gratitude.

Carlo Vieux retounen ak “Retounen” Yon entèvyou eksklizif ak OpaMusic.com

OpaMusic.com te kontakte mizisyen ayisyen Carlo Vieux pou yon konvèsasyon eksklizif sou retou li t ap tann depi lontan nan estidyo a ak sou nouvo single li a “Retounen,” ki soti 22 oktòb 2025 anba Power Surge Music Group. Pou fanatik ki swiv vwayaj Carlo depi epòk lejandè CaRiMi rive nan karyè solo li, mizik sa a santi l tankou yon retou lakay ak yon deklarasyon pèsonèl.

Carlo Vieux, ki fèt 13 septanm, fè pati listwa mizik ayisyen an depi plis pase ven ane. Li te kòmanse nan gwoup Tic Tac, apre sa li te fè pati K-Dans, epi pita li te vin youn nan fondatè gwoup CaRiMi ansanm ak Richard Cavé ak Mickael Guirand. Carlo te ede re-defini son konpa modèn nan. Melodi li yo ak pwofondè pawòl li yo te fè non li vin tounen yon non popilè. Men apre CaRiMi te kraze an 2016, li te disparèt trankilman nan limyè sèn nan.

Jodi a, Carlo pare pou rakonte istwa li nan pwòp vwa li.

Men mwen kontan retounen. Jan ansyen pwovèb la di, le de zye wè, manti pa bay.”

Single “Retounen” nan se premye apèsi sou nouvo albòm li a ki pral pote non li menm. Carlo di albòm nan pran nèf mwa pou fini ak. Nou ka di se yon “bebe ki rive a tèm.” Okòmansman, pwojè a te gen pou genyen 18 chante, men li deside diminye li a 13 moso. “Mwen konnen kijan moun konsome mizik jodi a,” li eksplike. “Mwen te vle fè yon bagay ki konplè men ki fasil pou jwi. Chak chante ase long pou moun ki renmen bon mizik pran plezi, men pa trò long pou radyo.”

Pou pwodiksyon an, albòm nan genyen yon ekip talan ki ladan l tankou Paska Music, Serge Turnier (Power Surge), Julby Boutin (BBO), Jean Richard Bien-Aimé (Maestro Ricky), epi li te miksé ak masterize pa Cedrick Louis. Kolaborasyon sa yo bay albòm nan yon son pwofon ki marye emosyon konpa klasik ak yon manyen modèn ki byen rafine.

Lè yo te mande Carlo sou absans li nan sèn mizik ayisyen an, li te reponn ak onètete. “Li te gen anpil pou wè ak wòl mwen kòm papa. Pitit gason m renmen foutbòl anpil, e mwen te vle la pou li. Lè m wè kote li rive jodi a, mwen konnen mwen te pran bon desizyon. Li aksepte nan senk nan uit gwo inivèsite Ivy League nan peyi a.

Pandan nouvo mizik li yo sou wout, anpil fanatik ap mande si yo pral wè Carlo Vieux pi souvan sou sèn. “Wi,” li reponn ak yon ti souri. “Nou pral wè m sou sèn, men fwa sa a m ap aji ak estrateji.”
