At 11:30 p.m., after the rain, Lesly Coachi, Deputy Secretary General of Tabarre En Fête, announced to the audience that the event originally scheduled for 7:00 p.m. would go on as planned. Some groups and artists had already pulled out due to unfavorable weather conditions that made an outdoor event seem impossible. Among those present was Jean Jean Roosevelt, who, like us, thought the rain would give us no chance of holding this 2013 edition. Thank you, Jean Jean.
In front of more than 5,000 people, Frantzou Dormerçant introduced the local group 10-Tans of Tabarre to the applause of a crowd eager for the celebration. The young band delivered a strong performance under the watchful eyes of Arly Larivière and Alan Cavé. 10-Tans ignited the stage and even declared through singer Maxime: “This is nothing compared to what Distans could do here.”
The moment then came to enjoy a vibrant set from Nu-Look, led by maestro Arly Larivière, who was celebrating his birthday in front of a large crowd of admirers gathered at the foot of the stage. Alan Cavé also thrilled fans with a powerful performance, singing alongside the audience during every song. He added some mega-hits from Zin, previewing the highly anticipated reunion of the legendary group set for the following week, Friday, August 30, 2013.
The new champions of Rap Kreyòl at Club Face Of, Gouverneur’s Business, then made their entrance, sharply dressed and warmly received by the young audience that had been waiting for them. With star power and style, rap group Virus (PSC) of Tabarre stormed the stage with high energy. It was a striking performance that confirmed the vitality of the new generation of Rap Kreyòl.
Unfortunately, despite being present since 8:00 p.m., Toxic was unable to perform their mega-hit Histoire Cachée due to time constraints. We extend our apologies to the group.
Both Arly and Alan publicly declared that they would return for the next edition of Tabarre En Fête to encourage the young people of Tabarre, whom they found friendly and welcoming. Virus, Gouverneur’s Business, 10-Tans, and Toxic also confirmed their participation in future editions.
We ask for forgiveness for our imperfections. We are well aware of certain mistakes and are committed to making improvements next time. To anyone who was disappointed, we are sorry—it was not intentional. We would love to have the full contribution of all residents of Tabarre for future editions.
Last year, Tabarre En Fête consisted only of two dance nights: one at Club Face Of with Alan Cavé, and the other at Sitwonel Club with Gabel. This year, 2013, the event grew to include a major ball featuring Carimi as a prelude to the activities, a thanksgiving mass at the Médaille Miraculeuse Church in Carrefour Fleuriot, three conferences at the Parc Historique de la Canne à Sucre, a music workshop at Kingdom Hotel, music and basketball at Carrefour Clercine Square, a medical clinic at the Civil Protection office, and a large open-air concert next to the Tabarre Industrial Park on Boulevard Toussaint Louverture. We plan to expand further next year with even more activities.
A heartfelt thank you goes to everyone who contributed, near or far, to the challenging but successful realization of Tabarre En Fête 2013. Special thanks to: Father Dominique Destiné of the Miraculeuse Church, Réginald Lucéus of the Chorale Les Amis, Dr. Jean Marie Théodat, Prof. Maud Laëthier, Prof. Thurgot Théodat, Dr. Lionel Paul, Dr. Alix Moïse, Miss Sabine Paul, Dr. Théodore and the staff of Sodeth Hospital.
We also thank our sponsors for this year: Digicel, Comme Il Faut, AVIS, Sogico S.A., Le Nouvelliste, Ticket Magazine, L’Imprimeur S.A., Panexus, Sunauto, Radio Télé Galaxie, Radio Horizon 2000, Radio Télé Méga Star, Radio Télé Zénith, Snobisme Hôtel, Le Privilege Hôtel, Le Primeur Restaurant, the Françoise Canez Auguste Foundation, and Kingdom Hôtel.
