A heartbreaking incident in Dania Beach, Broward County, saw a young man, 23-year-old Kevin Dominique, found fatally shot near a canal on Tuesday morning. Authorities quickly identified and arrested his 15-year-old brother, Demetre Fleurimond, charging him with first-degree murder for allegedly shooting Kevin at their family home and then abandoning his body by the canal.

Around 8 a.m., deputies responded to a 911 call reporting a body discovered near a canal in the vicinity of Ocean Waterway Boulevard and Old Griffin Road. The victim was identified as Kevin Dominique, who had sustained multiple gunshot wounds.

Investigators determined that the shooting occurred at their shared residence on Southwest Sixth Avenue when Kevin returned home from work. Authorities say that Demetre then transported his brother’s body to the nearby wooded area and canal, abandoned the vehicle at a library parking lot, and attempted to clean the crime scene.

Their mother, Marie Jeanty, is devastated. She shared that she had called her younger son that morning to ensure he had made it to the bus stop, never suspecting anything was amiss. Through tears, Jeanty revealed that Demetre had shot Kevin 15 times, a detail that underscores the unimaginable horror of the attack. She expressed her grief, saying she feels as though she has lost both of her sons.

Demetre Fleurimond has been arrested and is currently being held at the Juvenile Assessment Center, awaiting his first appearance in court on first-degree murder charges. Authorities have not disclosed a motive for the shooting, and details remain limited as investigations continue.
