If you’ve ever paid attention to any of Djakout Mizik’s song; lyrics, you might have heard them shouting out an individual by the name of Altanaze. The super Djakout Fan, Altanaze Guerrier died yesterday after he was kidnapped and murdered in Haiti by a group of goons.

During a press conference yesterday the head of the police in Haiti said the kidnapping took place on Sunday, May 3rd and a total of 4 people were kidnapped. Altanaze Guerrier was killed while he was trying to escape.

Altanaze, a businessman, well known in the Haitian music scene, was kidnapped on Sunday, May 3rd, and killed with a bullet to the heart. Another hostage, Trazil Rodna, was wounded by two bullets in the leg. He had been abducted in the company of a friend on the evening of May 2, at Bois Moquette (Pétion Ville). Another victim, a young woman abducted on 3rd May, on the road to Brothers (Petion City), was also wounded as she tried to escape the shooting, she was taken to the hospital.

According to testimonies gathered from the hostages, the actual kidnappers were not present during the incident. The hostages were left under the control of guards. Authorities are not sure what caused the shooting. One of the survivors said that a lively discussion broke out in a room next door. The ransoms seemed to be slow to come, the captors lost patience.

Altanaze may have attempted to get rid of the ropes that held him tethered, when one of the guards lodged a bullet in his heart, killing him instantly. Another hostage who was trying to escape was hit with two bullets in his legs. The other three had time to flee, fearing that the guards might have been ordered to shoot the hostages.

Strong tension remains in the area, especially at the rue Mésalien where the drama occurred.
The police made several arrests. A weapon that one of the kidnappers had to drop while fleeing, was recovered by the police. The police announce the opening of an investigation to find the perpetrators of these kidnappings and invites the population to vigilance.
