Just two and a half months shy of the two most talked about festivals in Florida to take place and already the legal gloves our on. On the one corner, you have Rodney Noel and Jean Michel Cerenord of Harmony Records’ lawyers serving Al Compas Festival’s partners with a lawsuit claiming to have the legal right to the name Compas Festival.

According to my sources, Al Compas Festival was served already and they have yet to respond. I didn’t know you can legally own that name and I have yet to check on that but from what I’ve gathered so far, both are claiming to have legal rights to it so who’s telling the truth and who’s not? According to the paperwork we were able to dig up, the original has the TRADEMARK which would explain why Al had to manipulate the words. But in a TRADEMARKING, shouldn’t one put restrictions on manipulating words?

For those who were questioning whether or not Haitian Compas Festival and Al Haitian Compas Festival is legally registered. As we were looking for the records on the following link, we found out that Haitian Compas Festival is incorporated and Trademarked but the plot thickens, Al Haitian Compas Festival is also incorporated but not Trademarked. What does that mean?
